Wendy Johnson
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Wendy Johnson splits her time between documentary filmmaking and the prairie restoration on a long-abandoned farm outside Red Wing, Minnesota. She is an award-winning published author and documentary filmmaker with acting and voiceover experience. Drawing on her experience as an educator and documentarian coupled with her exuberant spirit, Wendy works as an inspiring and visionary team leader.
Her documentary short, METAMORPHOSIS (2021), an intimate portrait of the filmmaker’s remarkable 96-year-old scientist and father and his unwillingness to let any obstacle distract or stop him—including a deformity at birth was an Official Selection at five festivals, including Detroit SheTown Film Festival, South Dakota Film Festival, and Festival Internacional de Corto Metraje UVAQ.
In addition, she co-directed, wrote, and produced PROMISE IN THE SAND (2018), an Environmental documentary film centered on communities affected by frack sand mining in Wisconsin and Iowa and was the Official Selection at the Oneota Film Festival and Flyway Film Festival. Other film credits include director, producer, writer, editor of ARTWATCH (2010), a five-part community arts program in St. Louis Park and BELIEVE (2007), a children’s live action short and Official Selection at San Francisco Bay Area International Film Festival, East Lansing Children’s Film Festival, Detroit-Windsor International Film Festival, and Spud Fest Film and Television Festival.
Wendy understands how visual storytelling in film is more powerful than any other form of media. It gives audiences a vicarious experience that develops empathy, moving not only minds but hearts, too.
